EEKcars - a Chrysler, Plymouth, and Dodge online car club

This on-line car club serves those who have everyday extended K-based cars from Chrysler Corporation - every front wheel drive Chrysler, Plymouth, and Dodge car made from the 1980s through 1995 with the exception of the LH series (Intrepid family), L series (Omni family), Cloud Cars, Neon, and imports. It has no connection or affiliation with Chrysler, which owns all the trademarked names on this page.

Why are they called K-cars or EEKs?

EEK! stands for Every Extended K-car (or Each and Every K-Car).

Back in the 1960s and 1970s, Chrysler had four basic platforms: A, B, C, and D. A was the Valiant series, which had about a dozen nameplates; B was the full-size sedan series, with a surprising variety of names and styles; and C and D were full-sized sedans. For some reason, Chrysler decided to assign each K variant with a new letter, though really there were three basic varieties: K, Extended K (E), and minivans.

E = Challenger/Barraucda; F = Volare/Aspen; L = Omni/Horizon. They came back to G, H, etc. The Omni/Horizon, incidentally, has little in common with other Chrysler products, other than the transmission and the 2.2 liter engine on some models. It was actually designed by Hillman and Simca - get the story here.

Do I have an EEK?

The following is a list of EEKs, along with one or more relevant Web sites. (Yes, Allpar does seem to have a page for just about each one...but there's lots of others, too.)

What do they have in common? All used the 2.2, 2.5, 3.0, and/or 3.3 liter engines with a limited number of transmissions. Many parts, from suspension to electrical to interior, are interchangeable. Wheels (if they have the same number of lug nuts) are interchangeable. The basic platform is the same - not unlike Volkswagen's making the Golf, Jetta, TT, GTI, New Beetle, and A4 off the same platform. By adjusting size, suspension tuning, options, and appearance, Chrysler managed to produce a wide range of very popular cars at minimal expense.

    EEK mailing list

This list has been very helpful, friendly, and open. Its members value and protect that atmosphere. The mailing list is at Topica.com. The edited and organized archives are kept at Allpar, the list sponsor, along with a great number of other repair tips and information sources. Why are they still at Allpar instead of right over here? Because that's where they've always been, and it's too much work to move them!

The rules for the EEK list are simple:

    1. Rather than posting images or binaries, put them onto the Web and post a URL.

    2. Avoid profanity.

    3. Do not use bold type, special fonts or colors, or italics, or different sized type. This causes most e-mail programs to send html or mime to the list. This is a no-no. If you keep doing it, you can be bounced.

To send a message to the eek list, mail it to eek@topica.com. You must be a member to send a message, and you must send mail from the address that you joined from!

To reduce the amount of e-mail you get, consider going into Digest mode. This puts ten e-mail messages into a single message with a table of contents. WE STRONGLY ADVISE YOU TO USE DIGEST MODE.

Any messages like "subscribe" or "unsubscribe" or "set digest" sent to the entire list, at eek@topica.com, will be ignored! Unsubscribe information is listed on the bottom of each message.

Spamming will be reported to your ISP and/or employer, probably by mailing list members, who do not appreciate attempts to sell affiliate programs, Amsoil, etc.

By posting a message to the list without any indications regarding reproduction, you will be giving permission for it to appear in original or abstracted form on the World-Wide Web - either here or on allpar.com, or any site authorized to reproduce it by Allpar, LLC, the list sponsor. Any prohibitions on reproduction must be placed above the signature line, because the digest program eliminates signatures.
